Borei pri ha’etz

This post was originally supposed to be called “Farming Friday: Tu B’Shvat Edition”.

But since today is neither Friday nor Tu B’Shvat (discuss amongst yourselves…), the above title will have to do.

Note that all the fruit appearing in this post comes from TRLEOOB*.

As always, feel free to click on the pictures for a closer view.

What will happen to the lemons?

Are they doomed to spend their days huddled together in torn plastic bags?

Is a life of rolling around the living room floor to be their dismal fate?

Or…  are they ultimately destined - {insert: dramatic pause} - for greatness?

Tune in next time at some unspecified future date, when we’ll discover the answers to these and other exciting questions…

  4. Wow - how cool! I'd also be happy to take some lemons and pomelos off your hands :)

  5. How do pomelos taste? Is it something you usually finish by yourself or divide up like a melon?

  6. Have you tasted them yet?

  7. Ariella - Good pomelos are very sweet. And yes, they're far too big for one person. Depending on the size, a pomelo can be divided up between about 5-10 people. Hmm. Maybe I should write a pomelo post? :-)

Ilana-Davita - Yes, we've been enjoying the lemons and the pomelos.

  8. Thanks for answering. Pomelos are available here. As they are very expensive, though, I've never bought one. I also wondered if they taste like the grapefruits they resemble. Based on what you say, though, they would be sweeter. It must be very nice to be able to literally eat the fruit of your labors!

  9. Ariella - Yes, as I've noted elsewhere, it really is a big zechut, BA"H.
